I have lived in Uppingham since March 1989 raising my two sons here with my wife Sheena. I am very pleased that two of my six grandchildren currently live in Uppingham and three more live within six miles. Until December 2008 I was employed by Lloyds Bank running their UK Commercial Lending Centres. Following my retirement in 2008 I became involved in a family business in Uppingham that provided 10 jobs (at that time) and I was concerned that there seemed to be little support available for local businesses. Although I am no longer involved with the family business, I still am a keen advocate for local businesses in Uppingham and want to see support for them wherever possible.

In 2011 I stood for election to the Town Council and was elected for a four year term. I successfully sought re-election in 2015, 2019 and 2023. I am currently the Mayor, having previously served in this role between 2014-2016 and again in 2024-2025. My main interests are that Uppingham, as the second town in Rutland, gets its voice heard. With this in mind I have played a major part in the establishment of the existing Neighbourhood Plan and the refreshed version. I believe that we need to provide far more truly affordable housing in Uppingham if we are to retain our young people. I therefore serve in a voluntary capacity as Chairman of Uppingham Homes CLT who seek to provide such housing for rent.

I also continue to volunteer to both drive and fund-raise for the Uppingham Hopper bus as it provides much needed social cohesion in our town.
