New Mayor for Uppingham
The next Mayor of Uppingham has been confirmed as Councillor Stephen Rozak, who was previously the Deputy Mayor. His position was confirmed at the Annual Council Meeting, which took place on Wednesday 1 July 2020. Councillor Liz Clarke was confirmed as Deputy Mayor.
The Mayor said "It's a great honor to become Mayor of the town of Uppingham. As a community we are working through the Covid pandemic and people are starting to get out to see friends and relatives more and shops and pubs are starting to open up again. It is important to not forget that we still need to be careful as Covid has not gone away. I said in my opening speech that it is a year of consolidation and review. We need to consolidate and review the impact on our finances and work with our community as Covid has hit them hard.
We also have a number of projects underway; the new children's play area at Tod's Piece, our Neighborhood plan refresh, the refurbishment of public toilets and many more ideas in the melting pot.
I am proud of our team in Uppingham, which has a broad skill base of knowledge across a wide range of areas and I look forward to working with them to deliver on some of the exciting ideas that we are generating."
