Re-opening Town Hall for Classes after Covid-19 Lockdown

The re-opening of the Town Hall for classes was debated by the Staffing and Amenities Committees during meetings held on 15th July 2020. The Town Council are obliged to consider health and safety matters when re-opening community facilities. This includes considering establishment of cleaning cycles and the undertaking of risk assessments.

Users and hirers of a community facility have responsibility for managing risks arising from their own activities when they have control of premises and should take account of any guidance relevant to their specific activity or sector. In that regard, the Town Council will wish to see risk assessments undertaken by those wishing to recommence classes at the Town Hall.

It is envisaged therefore, in order for the Council to consider their obligations, that the Town Hall will not re-open until w/c 17th August 2020, and then on a limited basis with a reduced class schedule. Class organisers shall be contacted in this regard.
